Economic Development is to promote and enhance the economic vitality of the community through the retention and/or expansion of existing business and the attraction of appropriate new business.

Further, the Chamber will work in a variety of ways to promote a suitable climate for quality economic development in all its forms; industrial, commercial, agricultural, institutional and residential.

Demographics
The 2000 county population was 15,457 projected to grow 2.5 % per year. Per capital income in 2004 was $ 29,050. Our school system is SACS certified and we graduate 85% of those entering the system, among the highest in Georgia. Our labor force is 8,957 with a 4.0% unemployment rate.
